Meet Alfred R. Keep
Mr. Keep has been an attorney for over 40 years. He graduated from UCLA School of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree. From the beginning of his practice, he has been and is a litigation attorney experienced in probate cases and most civil and criminal matters. He has litigated most types of personal injury cases, primarily as a claimant’s attorney and from time to time as a defense attorney. He has also been an arbitrator in numerous injury and death cases. He has an “AV peer review rating” with Martindale Hubbell Law Directory which is the highest rating available. A focus of his practice at present is on probate matters.
Mr. Keep’s career began as a criminal prosecutor with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. During that employment he prosecuted all types of criminal offenses ranging from serious to minor, including murder, manslaughter, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, rape, child molesting, failure to provide child support, drunk driving, assault, battery, traffic tickets, etc.
He concluded his career as a prosecutor with a 100% conviction record in felony jury trials.
At the time Mr. Keep was with the District Attorney’s Office, that office was also the County Counsel for Ventura County and he represented a number of County departments and districts in civil matters, including the County Clerk, County Recorder, Public Works Department and School Districts.
When Mr. Keep left the District Attorney’s Office, he established a private law practice in Simi Valley, California and, over the
years, his practice has been very broad in scope. He has continued to be involved in criminal law matters as a criminal
defense attorney. He has had many years of experience in probate and civil law matters including litigation of contested probate cases, will contests, injury cases, death cases, dissolution of marriage cases and other family law matters. He has represented clients in estate planning matters and has prepared numerous wills, living trusts to avoid probate, business law documents including sale and purchase of businesses, real estate matters, partnerships, forming of closely held corporations, adoptions, conservatorships, guardianships, landlord-tenant matters including eviction cases and other matters.
